When disaster hits any airport in Singapore,the officers from the Airport Emergency Service (AES) spring into action. They fight fires, rescue the injuredand relay information to other agencies thatcomein to provide aid.
The AES showcased its work recently for The New Paper. The hovercraft top speed of 50 knots (about 90kmh) allows it to patrol the north-east area around Changi Airport – or up to 18.5 km from the airport’s control tower.
