Thousands of performers have worked tirelessly for the past few months to make this Friday’s National Day Parade a resounding success. Yesterday was the National Day Parade Preview, the last chance to polish their routines before the actual parade.

This year, sportsmen from different sports are putting in their all to make their various showcases perfect. From extreme sport BMX riding to synchronised swimming – the excited sportsmen just could not wait to show off their skills to the millions who will be watching the annual parade.

BMX rider Kenny Tay told The New Paper on Sunday: "We have been preparing for almost three months. It’s a rare opportunity for us to perform on this stage, since the parade is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Some of the stunts they will perform this Friday include a jump – where they attempt to flip 360 degrees with their bikes in the air.

Synchronised swimmers are also excited for their moment to shine in front of Singapore. It’s the first time that Sheryl Lim, 15, from the Elites Synchro Club, will be appearing at the National Day Parade.

Says the excited girl as she put on her make-up: "It’s a different experience compared to the usual performances."

We give you a behind the- scenes peep at the National Day Parade Preview.
