A flooded shopping centre in Singapore means trouble. But not at Golden Mile Complex this time of year, when the Thais celebrate Songkran or the Thai New Year.
On Saturday, revellers were seen spraying and splashing one another with water as a way to pay respect, washing away the bad luck and ushering in the new year.
Celebrations lasted two days at the shopping centre, with hundreds turning up with bottles, pails and water guns in a bid to soak and get soaked.
Children, some pouring buckets of water from the upper levels on unsuspecting passers-by below, fought a wet battle against adults as greetings of Sawatdi Pi Mai (Happy New Year) rang out.
