With Mother’s Day falling on the next day, the annual Mrs Singapore Universe and Classic Mrs Singapore Universe beauty pageants were an apt celebration of the beauty and grace of its contestants, many of whom are mothers.
About 450 friends, relatives, children, and even grandchildren turned up at the Grand Ballroom of the club to cheer them on.
There were two categories – Mrs Singapore for married women aged 22 to 44, and Classic Mrs Singapore for women aged 45 to 65.
Thirty-two finalists danced and paraded on stage and went through a tough question-and-answer round.
Mrs Christy Lim, 38, was crowned Mrs Singapore 2013. She was also the crowd favourite from the start and had the loudest fans.
Her colleagues, relatives and friends came to support her, but it was her five children, aged between two and 13, who cheered most enthusiastically for their mother by waving posters and making noise with clappers.
