The art of latte

The Singapore National Barista Championship and Latte Art Championship took place at the Marina Bay Sands last week (Mar 14-16).

Singapore’s top baristas come together to showcase their talent and compete for the coveted title of National Champion and the opportunity to represent Singapore in the Annual World Barista Championship and Annual World Latte Art Championship.

Participants in the Latte Art championship had six minutes to replicate two latte art designs. Baristas were required to pour steamed milk onto a shot of espresso and create a pattern or design on the surface of the milk foam.

They compete in creativity and artistry, showcasing perfect symmetry in their creation. Working with designs such as tulips and a phoenix resting on a rosette, contestants made it look deceptively simple with the deft manoeuvring of the milk pitcher.
