It is billed as the largest urban street festival here, celebrating underground art, dance, music and culture. Over 30 local artists and an international guest artist contributed graffiti art that will be shown in an exhibition at the Culturestate festival being held at Helutrans at Keppel Road. The exhibition is open until March 30. Throughout the festival, there will also be seminars, live demonstrations and talks.
The graffiti art exhibition is curated by local graffiti artist Zulkarnaen Othman, who is from arts collective RSCLS. “The theme of the exhibition is urban feudalism, and we thought of drawing on Japanese mythology to express this theme as this is something that has not been done before,” he said.
Here are some pictures from the opening of the festival.
